HISTORY
In 1994, the Llano family recognized a need for a bilingual kindergarten in San Carlos, Mexico. In conjunction with other education professionals, Mrs. Llano developed a bilingual program and Colegio Americano de San Carlos opened its doors in September, 1994. The first 50 students to enroll were children from Mexican and American families who wanted the best in modern education taught in Spanish and English for their children.
There were more applicants than space at the school and more classes and additional grades were offered the following year. Demand for bilingual classes continued to grow each year, and in 1998, the school had to move to a larger facility at its current location in Miramar, Guaymas.
Today, Colegio Americano enrolls more than 550 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, representing many different nationalities. Its 6.2 acre campus includes athletic, academic and arts facilities. It continues to offer excellent bilingual education, fostering independence and responsibility in its students, and preparing its graduates for university study at the finest universities in Mexico and throughout the world.
The school’s reputation for high academic standards and outstanding extra-curricular activities is well established. Today, Mrs. Llano continues to lead the school with determination and vision.
