INDIVIDUAL SPORTS
Colegio Americano de San Carlos has a number of individual sports for all ages for both boys and girls.
Competitive Sports:
-
Gymnastics: Students learn floor exercises that include handstands, forward rolls and handsprings. As they progress, students learn tumbling passes, series of jumps, dance elements, and acrobatic skills. Eventually, students also learn how to choreograph these movements into a complete routine. Gymnastics improves the students’ physical strength, flexibility and body awareness. Boys and girls at all grade levels train and compete in gymnastics.
- Swimming: Swimming in the semi-Olympic sized pool at the school, students practice regularly and compete both locally against other schools and at State competitions. Our swimmers have won many local and state-wide competitions.
- Tennis: The tennis court was added in 2007, and students practice and are taught by a tennis pro. Our tennis players compete locally and in the State of Sonora.
Non-competitive Sports:
- Kickboxing: Kickboxing is a general martial art that uses both kicking and punching. Kickboxing can help you reach your fitness goal and teach you self-defence. The cardiovascular, toning, conditioning and motor skill enhancements make fitness kickboxing a great way to get in shape.
- Karate: Karate is a martial art that focuses on punching, kicking, elbow and knee strikes and open hand techniques. You will also learn grappling, locks, and throws. Karate is both an art and a sport and teaches valuable self-defense techniques. Colegio Americano’s karate is taught by a 4th Dan black belt instructor.
